Celebrating 60 years in Niagara
Sixty years ago, the BGC Niagara (BGCN) opened its first Club House on November 8, at 6681 Culp Street, Niagara Falls. To help commemorate BGC’s 60th anniversary, the City of Niagara Falls and the Town of Fort Erie have officially designated the week of November 8 to 14, 2020, as BGC Week.
Since the beginning, the BGC Niagara has provided children and teens in Niagara with a supportive place to experience new opportunities in a safe way. Our before and after school programs provide them with the opportunity to build positive relationships, develop confidence and strengthen life skills. “We are proud of the services
we offer and want to thank all of our community partners for their ongoing support,” said JoAnne Turner, Executive Director, BGC Niagara.
BGCN will be celebrating its 60th anniversary with a number of activities throughout the week including a ribbon-cutting ceremony at EJ Freeland Community Centre in Fort Erie, anniversary-themed art projects, illumination of lights at Niagara Falls, Boys and Girls Club alumni search and more. Additional activities will continue throughout the year celebrating the occasion with a plan to host a 60th anniversary gala in November 2021.
