Strategic Directions 2023-2028
BGC Niagara will strengthen the organizations reach, organizational capacity, and community awareness and be recognized as the leading child and youth-serving organization in the Niagara Region.
BGC Niagara will accomplish this through our sustainable financial position, focusing on building internal structures and capabilities that support growth, and through our exceptional and accessible program & service delivery serving youth of all ages. Programs, services and culture will be supportive, adaptive, and inclusive as we strive for equal opportunity and access across the Region.
Priorities
Proactively Respond to changes in childcare and children’s program needs
We currently deliver high-quality preschool childcare and before and after-school programs. We will work to ensure that all of our current programs meet or exceed applicable government requirements. We will actively pursue opportunities to expand our services to support new and underserved communities.
- Licensed Child Care Centres that support the community needs that will result from the change to $10/day daycare in Ontario.
- Focused youth programs access in areas that are currently underserved.
Expand our visibility and presence
We will work to expand our visibility and presence across Niagara Region. This means better communicating our services and the value we deliver, and establishing new partnerships to help us expand our facilities and programming.
- Energize activities which improve visibility and presence for fundraising and community partner engagement.
- Revisit and communicate deliberate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and accessibility policies and practices.
- Strong, sustainable financial position through a diverse funding model.
Serve more youth
We provide opportunities for children and youth to “grow up in BGC Niagara.” We will increase our relevance and appeal to teens by developing new ways to engage with them and by tailoring to reflect their diversity, needs, and interests.
- Expand our reach to address underserved areas through strategic partnerships for facilities and programming.
- Inclusive programming, ensuring all youth feel safe, secure, and seen.
- Youth engagement to ensure programming reflects needs and interests.
- A deliberate, proactive expansion plan focusing on regional growth areas for greater reach and accessibility.
Invest in staff and leadership
Dedicated and capable staff and leadership are at the heart of what we do. We review our human resources and communication practices to ensure we are hiring, attracting and retaining the people we need now and for the future.
